Godwin has some writing that can be read here on Medium, notably about changes at The Substation in 2016, their experience with state censorship, and imagination, art, and autonomy in the face of overwhelming odds. More recent texts have touched on architecture and capitalist time, as well as the related impetus to "save" urban heritage and impose a particular futurity. They also had work on surveillance and the "smart nation" published in Mynah magazine #2.
Currently living and working (barely surviving) in Singapore, Godwin returned from an artist's residency at Taipei Artist Village in July 2019 which was supported by many through this crowdfunding campaign and digital showcase of work – delivery of perks to supporters is (extremely) delayed but still ongoing. |
I welcome friendship and comradeship, as well as possible collaboration across territorial borders. You can write to me via godwinkoay at google mail (preferred) and also find me on facebook (email or send a message first if making a "friend request"!) or instagram with the handle @noteswithoutuse, though I have reduced the amount I use social media sites.
In December 2023, I finally got round to starting a Patreon page after a long period of deliberation. Please check it out as I will be more active on there, and hope to use it to share and document what I'm up to, as well as give people a way to support my work. As a precarious worker relying mostly on odd jobs to get by, I am available for hire to competently produce visuals in digital raster graphics, photography, print, and various physical media. I'm also able to write, edit, proofread, research, make simple Chinese to English translation, and perform administrative and manual tasks. For professional, waged, or commissioned engagements, I can provide a bespoke CV with a relevant portfolio if need be, but just let me know what you're looking for and we could start chatting to see how things fit. I would be happy to offer a reduced rate for underfunded individuals and organisations with work and causes I believe in, get in touch for a discussion. I might be slow to respond at times, so I thank you for your patience. In case it isn't already obvious, I go by they/them pronouns! |
